The RACV or Royal Automobile Club of Victoria was founded in 1903 as a mutual organisation dedicated to the use and enjoyment of motor vehicles. It remains today a mutual organisation providing services such as car insurance, personal and car loans, home insurance, tourism products and services, security solutions and roadside assistance as well as a lifestyle club with locations in Melbourne's CBD, Healesville and Cobram.

RACV provides roadside service across Victoria to the approximately 1.4 million members and to inter-state and international affiliates.

The organisation's head office is located in the CBD of Melbourne, Australia with its main administrative office in the south-eastern suburb of Noble Park.

RACV also conducts extensive advocacy activities campaigning on behalf its members and the general public on issues such as roading, and vehicle standards and safety.

RACV is one of Australia's most active members of AAA, the Australian Automobile Association.

RACV was a founder of AAMI (now owned by the Promina Group), and both companies are now major competitors in the insurance market.
