Racial and Religious Hatred Bill
The Racial and Religious Hatred Bill (2005) is a Bill currently before the Parliament of the United Kingdom which creates new offences of "stirring up hatred against persons on religious grounds". The provisions were originally included as part of the Serious Organised Crime and Police Act 2005 but were dropped in order to get that Bill passed before the UK General Election, 2005. The Bill was passed by the House of Commons on 11 July 2005 and is currently awaiting passage through the House of Lords.
