Rabbit-Proof Fence

The rabbit-proof fence (now known as the "vermin-proof fence") runs 1,827 kilometers from Hopetoun to Cape Keraudren in Australia. Construction began in 1901 to combat the damage of rabbits and other vermin on local cereal crops. The success has been marginal at best.
