Rødding

R?dding is a municipality (Danish, kommune) in South Jutland County on the Jutland peninsula in south Denmark. The municipality covers an area of 273 km?, and has a total population of 10,915 (2005). Its mayor is Tage S?rensen, a member of the Venstre (Liberal Party) political party.

The main town and the site of its municipal council is the town of R?dding.

Neighboring municipalities are Christiansfeld and Vamdrup to the east, Vejen, Br?rup, and Holsted to the north, Ribe to the west, and Gram and Vojens to the south.

The municipality was created in 1970 as the result of a kommunalreform ("Municipality Reform") that merged a number of existing parishes:

By January 1, 2007 R?dding municipality will cease to exist as the result of Kommunalreformen ("The Municipality Reform" of 2007). It will be merged with existing Br?rup, Holsted, and Vejen municipalities to form the new Vejen municipality. This will create a municipality with an area of 817 km? and a total population of 41,350 (2005). The new municipality will belong to the new Region Syddanmark ("South Denmark Region").
