Rødby
R?dby is a municipality (Danish, kommune) on the island of Lolland in Storstr?m County in south Denmark. The municipality covers an area of 120 km?, and has a total population of 6,590 (2005). ~ ~ ~ ~ ~ ~ ~ ~ ~ ~ The main town and the site of its municipal council is the town of R?dby. ~ ~ ~ ~ ~ ~ ~ ~ ~ ~ Neighboring municipalities are Holeby to the east, ~ ~ ~ ~ ~ ~ ~ ~ ~ ~ Nysted Maribo and H?jreby to the north, and Rudbjerg to the west. To the south is the Fehmarn Belt, the strait which separates the German island of Fehmarn from Lolland. ~ ~ ~ ~ ~ ~ ~ ~ ~ ~ By January 1, 2007 R?dby municipality will cease to exist as the result of Kommunalreformen ("The Municipality Reform" of 2007). It will be merged with existing Holeby, H?jreby, Maribo, Nakskov, Ravnsborg, and Rudbjerg municipalities to form the new Lolland municipality. This will create a municipality with an area of 892 km? and a total population of 49,469 (2005).
