Trivia

  • During the production of The Phantom Menace, sets were only built as high as the actors' heads. Since Liam Neeson is so tall, he added an extra $150,000 to the production costs.
  • Qui-Gon appears only in The Phantom Menace though his voice is heard in Attack of the Clones. (His voice can be heard while Yoda is meditating). George Lucas planned to have Qui-Gon appear as a Force ghost, similar to how Obi-Wan appeared in The Empire Strikes Back and Return of the Jedi, but the idea was shelved.
  • As a nod to Neeson, one of the younglings in Episode II: Attack of the Clones is named "Liam."
  • Liam Neeson was so eager to be in The Phantom Menace, he didn't bother reading the script. Ironically, he reportedly disliked working on the film once principal photography began. In a strange twist of events, Neeson said once production wrapped that he would like to work with Lucas again.
