Public service announcement
A public service announcement (PSA) or community service announcement (CSA) is a non-commercial 'advertisement' - typically on radio or television - broadcast for the public good. Although it has been argued that PSAs do some public good, they are often perceived as being a waste of tax money and that it is not plausible to expect the audiences targeted to changes their attitudes and/or actions following a short television or radio spot.

Often, a celebrity promotes a foundation and asks for support to be given by viewers or listeners. An example being Michael J. Fox's PSAs in the US supporting research into Parkinson's Disease, from which he suffers. Some are public awareness campaigns, lobbying, for example, against smoking or compulsive gambling.
