Province of Ascoli Piceno

Ascoli Piceno (It. Provincia di Ascoli Piceno) is a province in the Marche region of Italy. Its capital is the city of Ascoli Piceno.

It has an area of 2,088 sq km, and a total population of 369,371 (2001). There are 73 communes in the province (source: Italian institute of statistics Istat, see this link).

The new province of Fermo is being created from part of the province of Ascoli Piceno. The new province (capital Fermo) will contain 860 sq km, 40 communes and approx. 170,000 inhabitants.
