Propagandhi
Propagandhi is an anti-racist, anti-fascist, gay-positive, pro-feminist, vegan, animal rights, anarchist, and anti-capitalist progressive punk rock band formed in Winnipeg, Canada in 1992 by Chris Hannah (guitar, vocals), Jord Samolesky (drums, backing vocals), and John K. Samson (bass, vocals). That same year, they would play a show with California punk-rock band NOFX, and the singer, Fat Mike, would ask them to come to L.A. to record what would become their first album, How To Clean Everything. The album was released on Fat Mike's own record label, Fat Wreck Chords in 1993.

The band spent the next three years touring and enjoying the popularity provided by the explosion in popularity of punk-rock in the mid 1990's. In 1996 they recorded and released their second album, Less Talk, More Rock, also on Fat Wreck Chords. The album title was a bit of a joke, as Propagandhi were well known for going into lengthy rants during their live performances. The album was, if anything, even more out-spoken than its predecessor, with song titles like "Apparently I'm A PC Fascist (Because I Care About Both Human and Non-Human Animals)" and "... And We Thought That Nation States Were A Bad Idea".

It was at this time, however, that John K. Samson decided to quit the band and form The Weakerthans, who would go on to release their first album, Fallow, on Chris and Jord's newly started label, G7 Welcoming Committee Records. The label, a tongue-in-cheek reference to the band members' dislike for the G7 (which has since become the G8) is based on the economic structure proposed in Robin Hahnel and Michael Albert's Parecon, and was initially started thanks to a $50,000 loan from Fat Mike, and now distributes the works of many political thinkers. Bands including Propagandhi, The Weakerthans, The (International) Noise Conspiracy, and many others; and also books and spoken word CDs from political thinkers such as Noam Chomsky, Howard Zinn, and Ann Hansen, among others.

After four years, and having picked up Todd Kowalski (bass, vocals), Propagandhi released their third full-length album, Todays Empires, Tomorrow's Ashes. The album was an impressive departure from their previous works. Searing politics without resorting to preaching; heavy, almost metal riffs; and the addition of the song-writing styles of Todd, who had previously played in Canadian hardcore bands I Spy and Swallowing Shit. The album also included enhanced CD-ROM with political videos and essays concerning such topics as COINTELPRO and the Black Panther Party.

In September 2005, G7 Welcoming Committee announced that Chris Hannah had left the band, and the remaining members found a replacement in one Glen Lambert, formerly of the Portage Terriers. This would appear to be a joke however, for a number of reasons. Firstly the new recording obviously has Chris singing on it. Secondly Glen Lambert and the Portage Terriers seem to be unfindable on the net. Finally the article mentions Hannah leaving in 2003, but he has been seen performing with the band on numerous occasions in 2004.
