PGP has been sufficiently influential that its algorithms and data formats have been standardised for interoperability between different pieces of software. Eventually, the PGP design was made an Internet standards-track specification known as OpenPGP. OpenPGP is now an open standard used by PGP, GNU Privacy Guard (GnuPG), Hushmail, Veridis, Authora, and others.
