A sample of these can be found, for example, in the book called "TYRANNI TRIGINTA" of the Augustan History. The title of that book is usually translated in English as the "Thirty Pretenders" (e.g. Loeb's translation), but that translation was rather chosen in order not to confuse with Athens' "Thirty Tyrants": not all "Tyranni Triginita" were afterwards considered pretenders, some were actually successful in becoming Emperor, most of them slain after holding the office for a brief period.
