Prescot


 
 

Prescot is a civil parish to the northeast of Liverpool, in the borough of Knowsley. It was an urban district from 1894 to 1974 when it became part of Knowsley. Its main tourist attraction is the local museum which features the local clock industry, and on the edge of the town is the famous estate of Lord Derby, which includes Knowsley Safari Park.

Prescot once had a large manfacturing base, chiefly BICC Cables, whose industry dominated the town.

Lord Nelson would visit Prescot to see his mistress, Lady Emma Hamilton, whose house still exists on the High Street.
