Praise song
A praise song is a song of praise to God in the traditions of certain Christian churches. Although the more commonly used term hymn is synonymous with praise song, within certain modern Christian musical traditions, especially in many Baptist churches, a distinction is made between the two. This distinction is not perfectly clear; however it is a matter of much debate, even sometimes within a single congregation, between revivalist and traditionalist movements. When a distinction is made, hymn usually refers to an older song (such as the hymns of the Lutherans), whereas praise song refers to a song with a more contemporary melody. The lyrics themselves may be older or contemporary.
