Pragmaticism
Pragmaticism was a term used by Charles Sanders Peirce for his philosophy after 1905, in order to distance it and himself from pragmatism, the original name, which had been used in a manner he did not approve of in the "literary journals". It is not because of Peirce's disapproval of James, Schiller or Dewey's use of the term "pragmatism" as is often reported. He coined it because it was "ugly enough to be safe from kidnappers." (Collected Papers 5, sec. 414)
