Portugal national football team
The Portuguese national football team has never won any major competition at senior level, but Portugal usually play very attractive football and can produce some great performances, playing head-to-head with the world's best national sides. They reached their first major final at {{Ec2|2004}}, losing to Greece.
Footnotes
- Selecção das Quinas literally means "Team of the Corners" (as in the corner of an edge in a table, for instance), but the name refers to the five shields ("Team of the Escutcheons") or the five dots inside them ("Team of the Bezants") in the Portuguese flag, used until the 70s as the shirt badge. As "Quinas" in Portugal is mostly associated with the national coat of arms, there isn't a direct translation.
