Pontus De la Gardie

Ponce (Pontus) de la Gardie, a French nobleman in the service of Sweden. Born in 150? in Russol Aude and died at Narva in 1585.

A French mercenary who had been in Danish service, but made a career in Sweden after having been captured by Swedish troups in 1565.

In 1581 a mercenary army of Sweden under Ponce (Pontus) de la Gardie captured the strategic city of Narva from Russia
