Plymouth-Dakar Challenge
The Plymouth-Dakar Challenge, first run in 2003 and since 2005 also known as the Plymouth-Banjul Challenge, is a car rally for charity. It's very roughly follows the route of the more famous Dakar Rally, visiting many of the same countries. The entrants must be driving a car worth approximately £100. The challenge is to get the car from Plymouth, not to Dakar, but further down the North West Coast of Africa to Banjul in Gambia where the cars are auctioned for, or donated to, charity.
