Players' Club
For $75,000, Edwin Booth purchased 16 Gramercy Park, New York City. The building was entirely remodeled, furnished, and equipped for club life. On December 31, 1888, it was presented to the Players' Club which had been organized after the purchase of the building.

Members of the Players' Club included men who were identified with American art, literature, sculpture, architecture, painting, the drama, etc., as well as prominent bankers and lawyers. A requirement was that at least five of the nine directors must be actors, dramatic writers, or theatrical managers.
