Pinellas County is a county located in the state of Florida. As of the 2000 census, the population is 921,482, making it the second most densly populated county in the United States, surpassed only by New York County, New York (i.e. Manhattan). Its county seat is Clearwater, Florida6, and its largest city is St. Petersburg. The county is contained entirely within area code (727), except for sections of Oldsmar, which has area code 813. It shares area code 727 with parts of West Pasco County, and Pinellas along with Hillsborough County, Florida comprises the Tampa-St.Pete metro area, often called the Tampa Bay area.
