Pigtail
Pigtails is a hairstyle: long hair is parted in the middle and tied on the sides, often curled into ringlets. It is generally worn by young girls, but teenage girls and adult women are also seen wearing pigtails. This variation, however, is the kind that goes below the ears.

The pigtail has its roots in the Manchu hairstyle during the Qing Dynasty in China. The Manchus had a special hair style: the distinctive "queue". They cut hair off the front of the scalp and made the remaining hair into a long pigtail. The pigtail story might be related to the early Tobas of the 4th–6th century. The Tobas were called "suo lu", namely, pigtail styled robbers.
