Phyllis Coates

Phyllis Coates is the stage name of an actress who appeared in various films and TV shows mostly during the 1950s. Her real name was Gypsie Ann Evarts Stell, and her friends call her "Gypsie". She was born on January 15, 1927.

She is best known for having played a strong-willed Lois Lane in the first 26 episodes of The Adventures of Superman. Her powerful "damsel in distress" scream was used to good effect in several episodes.
