Philosophical skepticism
Philosophical skepticism or nihilistic skepticism http://www.theness.com/articles/skepticismandscience.html (UK spelling, scepticism) is the philosophical school of thought in which one critically examines whether the knowledge and perceptions one has are true, and whether or not one can ever be said to have true knowledge.

This article does not deal with scientific skepticism, which is a practical position in which one does not accept the veracity of claims until solid evidence is produced in accordance with the scientific method. For the sake of brevity, skepticism in the remainder of this article refers exclusively to philosophical skepticism.
