~ ~ ~ ~ ~ ~ ~ ~ ~ ~ Having no initial success in obtaining a record deal of his own, Phil lent his talents as songwriter to some of the most popular country artists of the late 1990s, penning number-one hits for Jo Dee Messina, Alan Jackson and Tim McGraw. ~ ~ ~ ~ ~ ~ ~ ~ ~ ~ He signed with Arista Record Labels in 2000, and has recorded the eponymous Phil Vassar (2000), American Child (2002), and Shaken Not Stirred (2004). ~ ~ ~ ~ ~ ~ ~ ~ ~ ~ In 2005, Vassar was a judge on Nashville Star. ~ ~ ~ ~ ~ ~ ~ ~ ~ ~
