Phil Laak

Phil Laak is a professional poker player known widely as the "Unabomber" because of the hooded sweatshirt (given to him by Gus Hansen) and sunglasses that he wears at the table. One of his most distinctive characteristics is his habit of pulling closed the drawstrings on his sweatshirt's hood to hide his face during large hands.

He was born in Dublin, Ireland in 1972, however now resides in Los Angeles and San Francisco. When he first went to America he often shared a room with future poker professional Antonio "The Magician" Esfandiari. In the poker world, he is both loved and scorned. His antics at the table often ruffle a few feathers but his skill is undeniable.

Phil won the World Poker Tour Invitational in February 2004. In 2005, he acted as host and dealer for the E! entertainment network's Hollywood Hold'em program.

He is currently dating actress Jennifer Tilly, who won a World Series of Poker bracelet in 2005 in the $1,000 buy-in Ladies No-Limit Holdem Championship. (Tilly has since been nicknamed "The Unabombshell.") On the same day, Laak finished second to Johnny Chan in the $2,500 Pot-Limit Hold 'em event.
