Pewterschmidt

The Pewterschmidts are a fictional family on the animated television series Family Guy. They are a very wealthy family; additionally, the Pewterschmidts were among the first families to colonize America, settling in Newport, Rhode Island.

At some time prior to the Civil War, the Pewterschmidts owned a slave named Nate Griffin, who was an ancestor of Peter Griffin. Carter Pewterschmidt paid Peter $20,000 in reparations; Peter originally squandered the money, but had a change of heart and shared it among his fellow residents of Quahog, Rhode Island.

One of the estates owned by the Pewterschmidts was the Cherrywood mansion, which at one time was used as a brothel, where Abraham Lincoln hired black prostitutes.

Carter Pewterschmidt socializes with others who are extremely wealthy and powerful; he plays poker regularly with Bill Gates, Michael Eisner and Ted Turner (though the formers all try to avoid Turner). He apparently owns U.S. Steel.

Lois Griffin is a Pewterschmidt by birth, but gave up the wealth and elitism of her family to marry the less sophisticated Peter Griffin. Her aunt, Margherite Pewterschmidt, bequeathed Lois the Cherrywood mansion, but after living there briefly, Lois decided to take her family back to Quahog.

In addition to Lois, the Pewterschmidts have another daughter, Carol. Carol has been married and divorced eight times; her most recent husband, Ted, left her while she was pregnant with their son.
