Peter "Pete" Carroll (born September 15, 1951 in San Francisco, California) has been the head coach of the University of Southern California football team since 2001, and has led the team to the AP National Championship in 2003 (LSU won the BCS National Championship) and both the AP and BCS National Championships in 2004, including a 55-19 trouncing of the Oklahoma Sooners in the Orange Bowl BCS National Championship Game. Carroll is generally considered one of the best head coaches in the college ranks, as well as one of the sport's top recruiters.
