Perfect Strangers (album)

Perfect Strangers is the eleventh studio album by Deep Purple, released in November 1984. It represents the reformation of the most successful and popular line up of the band, known to their fans as 'Mark II'. All members had been playing in their own bands or solo projects after the official band breaking up in 1977. Jon Lord and Ian Paice, the last surviving members of the original line up had joined the band's third vocalist David Coverdale in his own group Whitesnake. Ian Gillan went to form the Ian Gillan Band and then it went into several transformations until it was only called Gillan. During 1983 Ian Gillan joined Black Sabbath for the album and tour 'Born Again'. Ritchie Blackmore formed Rainbow that went through several line ups until Blackmore decided to rejoin Deep Purple. Roger Glover made some solo albums, went into album production, including Judas Priest album 'Sin After Sin', and then joined Blackmore in Rainbow. Then in early 1984 the regrouping was announced to the delight of expectant fans all over the world.
