Pendeen

Pendeen is a fairly small community close to the coastline in Cornwall, Britain. It is 3 miles away from the town of and and was once part of St Just parish. It is 7 miles from the town of Penzance. Dotted around Pendeen are villages of Boscaswell, Carnyorth and Trewellard as well as historical site: Geevor Tin Mine. Pendeen features a couple of pubs, a shop, a school, a church, Pendeen Chip Van and in October 2005 has just finished building it's own town hall.

Overlooking Pendeen is a hill above the church which the locals have nicknamed "Slidehill Cemetary", because of the graves at the bottom. Like many other old Cornish coast villages, Pendeen was believed to be a secret place for smuggling activities off shore. One mile down a coast road from Boscaswell sits Pendeen Lighthouse and its noticeable fog-warning siren can be heard even from Trewellard.
