Pedro Pablo Aranda
Pedro Pablo Aranda (1719-1798), an eminent Aragonese statesman who led the government when Charles III fled to Aranjuez during the Esquilache riots in 1766. Aranda was a proponent of decentralized government. Aranda became the leading figure in Spanish politics when the king's former confidante was abroad as an ambassador. Aranda was succeeded as chief minister by José Moñino in 1777.
