Pedro Aguirre Cerda (February 6 1879 - November 25 1941) was a Chilean political figure. He served as the president of Chile between 1938 until 1941. During his presidency, Aguirre implemented a series of educational reforms. He is the only Chilean president to date to die in office by disease.
