Pavel Nedv?d (; born 30 August 1972 in Cheb) is a former Czech football midfielder. He is one of the most successful Czech players to have played in a top European league, winning numerous accolades with Lazio and Juventus. Widely regarded as one of the best midfielders in the modern era, he was the recipient of the prestigious Ballon d'Or, the first Czech player since the break up of Czechoslovakia, in 2003 while at Juventus. He is known for his energy and tireless runs, hence his nickname Furia Ceca ("The Czech Fury") amongst Juve fans, as well as his goal scoring ability.

Pavel Nikolaevich Medvedev

Pavel Nikolaevich Medvedev (January 4, 1892 ? July 17, 1938) was a Russian literary scholar. He was a professor, social activist, and friend of Mikhail Bakhtin, as well as of Boris Pasternak and Fyodor Sologub. A strong sympathizer with the Bolshevik cause, Medvedev held several important government posts in education and publishing after the 1917 revolution, publishing a great deal of his own writing on literary, sociological, and linguistic issues. Arrested during the 1930s period of purges under the rule of Joseph Stalin, Medvedev would "disappear" shortly after his arrest.
