Paul Murphy (politician)
The Right Honourable Paul Peter Murphy (born November 25,1948) is a British politician for the Labour Party.

He is MP for Torfaen, Wales, and was appointed Secretary of State for Wales on July 28, 1999. He was Secretary of State for Northern Ireland from October 24, 2002 to May 5 2005. He was succeeded by Peter Hain, and becomes chairman of the Intelligence and Security Committee.

Prior to joining the Cabinet he was Minister of State for political development in the Northern Ireland Office and was largely responsible for negotiating the so-called strand two (internal Northern Ireland) arrangements agreed in the Good Friday Agreement.
