Pascual Jordan

Pascual Jordan (October 18 1902 in Hanover - July 31 1980 in Hamburg) was a German physicist.

Beginning 1921 he studied mathematics, physics and zoology at Hanover Technical University, and, moving 1923 at Göttingen University where he got his Ph.D. in 1924.

Together with Max Born and Werner Heisenberg he was co-author of an important series of books on quantum mechanics and quantum field theory.

Jordan's political activities are worth noting. He joined the Nazi Party in May 1933. The following November he joined the Sturmabteilung (SA) - the brown shirted storm troopers. He enlisted in the Luftwaffe in 1939 and worked for a while at the Peenemünde rocket center. After the war, Wolfgang Pauli was able to have him declared "rehabilitated."
