~ ~ ~ ~ ~ ~ ~ ~ ~ ~ Originally named Molson Park, it was formerly owned by the Molson brewery plant located nearby. The plant has since been sold off. In 2004, the old plant was home to a marijuana grow-op that was raided by police. ~ ~ ~ ~ ~ ~ ~ ~ ~ ~ Park Place is home of the Barrie Molson Centre where the Barrie Colts of the Ontario Hockey League play. Park Place is located. The park is also a popular open-air concert venue; it has hosted 102.1 The Edge's Edgefest and The Van's Warped Tour rock festivals. On July 2, 2005, Park Place welcomed 35,000 spectators at the Canadian Live 8 concert. ~ ~ ~ ~ ~ ~ ~ ~ ~ ~
