Paradise Regained
Paradise Regain'd is a poem by the 17th century English poet John Milton, published in 1671. It is connected by name to his earlier and more famous epic poem Paradise Lost, with which it shares similar theological themes. The writing style, however, is more thoughtful and less epic than that of Paradise Lost, and that difference no doubt accounts for why some consider this later work inferior.

Based on the Gospel of Luke's version of the Temptations of Christ, Paradise Regained is four books in length, in contrast to Paradise Losts twelve. It is a work where Milton utilizes parody to show Satan's folly in stark contrast to Jesus, the epitome of perfect heroism.
