Pangbourne is located some 5 miles from Reading and 20 miles from Oxford on the River Thames and is directly across the river from the smaller Oxfordshire village of Whitchurch-on-Thames. The two villages are connected by Whitchurch Bridge and often considered as a single settlement; Whitchurch Lock is on the Oxfordshire bank but its weir spans the river to Pangbourne. A 20p toll is payable to cross the bridge by car. The River Pang flows through the centre of Pangbourne village before joining the River Thames between the lock and bridge. Pangbourne railway station is on the Reading to Oxford railway line.
