Pages were also servants in castles and great houses or attendants on aristocrats and royalty. According to the International Butler Academy www.butlerschool.com, these pages were apprentice footmen. It became fashionable for young black boys to be decorative pages, placed into fancy costumes and attending fashionable ladies.
