Pacific Rim
The Pacific Rim is a political and economic term used to designate the countries on the edges of the Pacific Ocean as well as the various island nations within the region. Tokyo is by far the most important commercial and cultural capital of the Pacific Rim. Honolulu is the headquarters of various intergovernmental and non-governmental organizations of the Pacific Rim including the East-West Center and RIMPAC.

The region offers great diversity — with the economic dynamism of Hong Kong, Taiwan and Singapore; the mastery of technology in Japan, Korea and the western United States; the natural resources of Australia, Canada and the Russian Far East; the human resources of China and Indonesia; the agricultural productivity of Chile, New Zealand and the United States among others.
