Pacific Northwest
The Pacific Northwest (PNW) is an area often defined as northwestern corner of the continental United States. Its boundaries are imprecise: the Pacific coast states of Washington and Oregon are always included, with northern Idaho and northern California a common addition, although extreme eastern Oregon near Boise may be excluded because of the Rocky Mountain influence. Montana west of the Continental Divide, esp. the extreme west near Missoula is sometimes also included.
Miscellaneous facts
- The Pacific Northwest is the least church-going part of the United States, yet it is home to four international charities, three of which are faith-based: Northwest Medical Teams International, World Concern, and World Vision International. The fourth is Mercy Corps.
- The Pacific Northwest is home to the popular news and views website Pacific Northwest Portal, based out of Redmond, Washington.
- Cascadia is a proposed name for a nation uniting all or part of the PNW.
