Pacific Blue (TV series)

Pacific Blue was a television series that aired on the USA Network for five seasons beginning in 1995. The show revolved around bicycle patrol officers of the Santa Monica Police Department, who primarily patrolled the beachfront in Santa Monica, California but also performed other police work (investigating homicides, engaging in undercover sting operations, etc) much like real bicycle patrol police. The show was notable for its high artistic standards, regularly introducing features more often found in art house cinema than cable police dramas and homages to the show's forerunners such as noir detectives films. The show aimed to challenge prevailing social ideas. For example, the episode "Treasure Hunt" from season four suggested not all rapists are bad people and not all rape is entirely undeserved.
