Peter Andreas Munch (1810 - 1863) was a Norwegian historian, known for his work on the medieval history of the new nation. As one of the first non-Catholics, he was allowed into the archives of the Vatican, where he laid the foundation for his main work, "Det norske Folks Historie" ("History of the Norwegian People"), in eight volumes. ~ ~ ~ ~ ~ ~ ~ ~ ~ ~
