OutRage!

OutRage! is a direct action group in the United Kingdom which fights for the rights of lesbian, gay and bisexual people.

The group was formed at a meeting on May 10, 1990, called after the murder of gay actor Michael Boothe (which occurred on April 30). Many of those involved in calling this meeting had been members of the Organisation for Lesbian and Gay Action (OLGA) which had itself arisen out of the campaign against Section 28. There were four principal founders: Simon Watney, Keith Alcorn, Chris Woods and Peter Tatchell. Between 40 and 60 people attended the first meeting, including many who had been active in the Gay Liberation Front and other campaigns.

Lesbian: A lesbian is a homosexual woman. Lesbians are sexually and romantically attracted to other women. One might argue that one is not a lesbian (as a noun) but lesbian (as an adjective). This can depend on self-identification and varies among most lesbians/lesbian women....

Gay: Until several decades ago, the word gay meant something like "jolly" or "mirthful", as in the French gai. In contemporary usage, however, that meaning is uncommon nowadays; the term is usually synonymous with "homosexual." When referring to a group of people, the term often means "male homosexual"...

Bisexual: In human sexuality, bisexuality describes a man or woman having a sexual orientation to persons of either or both sex (a man or woman who sexually likes both sexes; people who are sexually and/or romantically attracted to both males and females).
