Ottawa Board of Education
The Ottawa Board of Education was the public school board for Ottawa from 1970 to 1998. The board was created in 1970 as part of a province wide reorganization of public education. Previously elementary schools had been supervised by the Ottawa Public Board of Education, while secondary schools had been managed by the Ottawa Collegiate Board. At the same time these two boards were merged the much smaller school boards of the separate cities of Rockcliffe Park and Vanier were also merged into the new OBE.
