Orville Hickman Browning
Orville Hickman Browning (1806-1881) was a Republican Senator from Illinois. He was a vetetan of the the Black Hawk War. He was a Whig who was a delegate to the anti-Nebraska convention held at Bloomington, Ill. in May 1856. This convention laid the foundations of the Republican Party. Under President Andrew Johnson served as Secretary of the Interior from 1866-1869. He is buried in Woodland Cemetery.
