The album is Shakira's English language follow-up to 2001's Laundry Service and is the English follow-up to Fijación Oral 1 which was released June 7, 2005. Oral Fixation is scheduled to be released on November 14, 2005.

One bonustrack will be "En Tus Pupilas" in the English version. Actually this song was originally written in English, but Shakira debuted it first in Spanish in the album Fijación Oral 1.

During mid-September Sony released 2 promo singles from Shakira, "Don't Bother" and "How Do You Do", one love song and a social song, which shows that Shakira has turned into a more "rockish" sound.
