Operation Highjump was a United States Navy operation in Antarctica from 1946-47, the largest effort in the southmost continent to this day. Admiral Richard E. Byrd's fleet was made up of 4,700 men serving on the following ships:

Operation Highjump is a frequent topic among UFO conspiracy theorists. It is claimed Highjump was in fact a covert US military operation to conquer the secret underground Nazi facilities in the Antarctica and capture the German Vril flying discs and Thule mercury-powered saucer spaceship prototypes.
