Ohio Northern University was founded by Henry Solomon Lehr in Ada, Ohio in 1871. It was originally known as Ohio Normal University. Approximately 3,500 undergraduate students attend, in the colleges of Arts and Sciences, Business Administration, Engineering, Pharmacy, and Law. The school mascot is a Polar Bear wearing a scarf. Ohio Northern University's campus is referred to as the tundra, a double entendre stemming from the school mascot, and a jab at what some see as its general barren and snow covered state.
