Oh Mercy is a Bob Dylan album released in 1989. It was Dylan's best-performing studio album in years, reaching #30 in the US and #6 in the UK.

Produced by Daniel Lanois, who was then working with U2 and Peter Gabriel, he was able to bring a new sonic palette to Dylan's sound, making his songs sound contemporary. Dylan described the recording of the album in the first volume of his autobiography, Chronicles, Vol. 1 in 2004.

As Clinton Heylin reports, while promoting The Traveling Wilburys in the fall of 1988, George Harrison discussed some of Dylan's upcoming work.
