Obi-Wan Kenobi

Obi-Wan "Ben" Kenobi (57 BBY - 0 BBY) is a fictional character in the Star Wars galaxy, a Jedi Master of legendary status. He teaches both Anakin and Luke Skywalker in the ways of the Force.

Early life

Kenobi was born 57 BBY and trained as a Jedi Knight from a young age, first by Yoda (according to ', although it is later revealed in Expanded Universe novels, as well as in Episode II, that all Jedi are trained by Yoda as children), and later by Qui-Gon Jinn. Without a Jedi teacher at the age of thirteen, Kenobi would be appointed to work in agricultural labor, where he would never have reached his full potential as a Jedi. Little is known of his birth family, though. According to the series Jedi Apprentice and the novelization of ', Obi-Wan does remember a brother named Owen (' established the fact he is not related to Owen Lars, although in the Jedi novelization he is). It is indicated in the novelization of Revenge Of The Sith that he speaks with a Coruscanti accent, perhaps a clue to his home planet. However, Kenobi was trained in the Jedi Temple on Coruscant, and it is likely that his accent derives from this, and has no connection to his homeworld.
