Oakland County is one of the wealthiest counties in the world with its technology center coined "Automation Alley" as a white-collar job center. For this reason it has been dubbed by some to be "the new OC" -a reference to Orange County, California, which has dropped two spots behind it in the rankings. A large influx of German technology investment is scheduled to occur in 2005 and 2006, further bolstering the county's economy.
